This sports shoe photo shoot is of my favourites I art directed for Boys Toys magazine. Simply because I had to quickly think of a fresh concept in the studio that day.

In the preceding editorial meeting, it was suggested we shoot each shoe upon a piece of Astroturf the photographer already had in his studio, but discoverd the turf to be too small. Looking at the various textures and futuristic contours of each shoe, I hit upon the idea of shooting each shoe close-up, under a spotlight with the main studio lights off. Then shooting three elevations of each shoe, which I would also use on the page.

A week after the issue of Boys Toys was published we received an email from the marketing representative at Adidas (who had supplied us with the Tunit Football Boot) saying "…this is the best product photography I have ever seen".
